Bertha Josephine Veryzl

   Bertha was born February 18, 1906 in Queens, NY the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Mohr) Veryzl.  She died October 7 at the age of 82 in Catskill, NY.  She married Leo Schulaski and he predeceased her.

   She was survived by one brother Edward Veryzl, Flintstone, GA; a soster, Mrs. Edyth Mahnken, Oneonta, NY; several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Sandra Nizich and Mrs. Keith (Linda) Kinch.

   The funeral was held at Millspaugh funeral home, Catskill, NY which was followed by interment in the Catskill Rural Cemetery.

 


Books About Xena

   I read this article called Books Written About Xena: Warrior Princess at the website http://www.xenaswarrior.com/2009/03/06/books-written-about-xena-warrior-princess.html .  It was about the novels that have been written about the adventures of Xena the Warrior Princess.  I liked how the article told about the different things that Xena had to over come on her travels through out the world.     

   Please visit this website for more information about why King Menelaus tried to find his missing wife.  This is a great website and I really enjoyed visiting it to learn how Xena won the many different quests that she went on.


Eliza Coons

   Eliza was born July 11, 1907 in Richmondville, NY the daught5er of Stanley and Pearl (Meade) Coons.  She died June 9, 1980 at Amsterdam, NY.  She married an Engle who predeceased her.

   She was survived by two daughters Evelyn Osterhout, Sprakers, NY and Nina Daniels, Schenectady, NY; three grandchildren, Sandra Hall, Sprakers, NY; Nancy Daniels and Frank Daniels both of Schenectady, NY; one great grandson Jeremiah Hall; and one brother Morris Coons, Cobleskill, NY.

   The funeral was held at Jackson and Todd funeral home, Fultonville, NY.  Burial was in Charleston, NY.


Carrol Shelby the Race Car Driver

   I read this article called The Shelby Cobra at the website http://www.peachyautos.com/2009/03/02/the-shelby-cobra.html .  It was about a great race car driver and why he had to give up his dreams as his health began to fail.  I liked how the article told about the different kinds of cars that he drove and how he created them.

   Please visit this website for more information about the Shelby Mustang that Ford produced for four years.  This is a great website and I really enjoyed visiting it to learn why Ford started producing the Shelby Mustang again in 2006.


Alice D. Lum

   Alice was born in Schoharie, NY.  She died May 26, 1982 at Cobleskill, NY after a long illness.  She married Ira B. Lum who survived her.  She was also survived by a sister, Mrs. Agnes Warner, Middleburgh, NY.

   Mrs. Lum was a graduate of Cobleskill State College and taught school at Cross Hill and Beard’s Hollow school districts.  She was a 50 year member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church and the Thrift Rebekah Lodge, in Central Bridge, NY.; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Community Hospital, Cobleskill, NY.

   The funeral was held at Mereness funeral home, Cobleskill, NY by the Rev. Victor Zaccaro.  Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery, Schoharie, NY.
